2nd Jake Lord Memorial Horsetooth Half

Tax deductible
Lace up your running shoes and grab your inhalers, its time to run the horsetooth half  a second time! We blew our initial goal of 5,000$ and subsequently 10000$ out of the water last year so lets see if we can get another $5,000!

Only the hardest of hard men would chose to run a half marathon on a whim the night before the race. A long time friend, Jake Lord, did just that the night before the 2017 Horsetooth Half Marathon.  He never backed down from a challenge, inspiring everyone who knew him with his fearless spirit. Tragically, Jake lost his life just 3 short months later doing what he loved, climbing one of Colorado's majestic fourteen thousand foot peaks.

A large group of Jake's friends will be honoring their fallen brother by running the 2019 Horsetooth Half Marathon for a second time in April. They would like to further honor Jake by using this opportunity to raise funds for the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of the natural integrity of Colorado’s 54 14,000 foot peaks — the “Fourteeners” — through active stewardship and public education.

Every year more and more people choose to recreate in Colorado's backcountry and wilderness areas. With this increased use comes the degradation of trails and increased potential for accident. Your donations will help maintain trails, signage, and facilitate public education on risk mitigation/safety while recreating in the backcountry or while climbing one of the Fourteeners.

If you would like to participate in the Horsetooth Half Marathon or would like more information about the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative please visit the appropriate links below.

We will also be holding post race drinks and celebrations in honor of Jake.
