Help Jake Fight Brain Cancer

If you’ve ever met Jake, you know he’s not just a cat — he’s everyone’s favourite cat. He has this gift of winning hearts. Even people who swear they don’t like cats somehow find themselves falling in love with him.

Jake is the first one to walk up to you when you come over, tail high, eyes bright, welcoming you like an old friend. His vets even say he’s the only cat they’ve ever seen fully loaf and relax in the clinic — he just radiates trust and love wherever he goes. But what makes Jake so special goes beyond his charm. He has this uncanny sense of knowing when I’m hurting. He’s been my rock through some of the hardest moments of my life.

That’s why the past few months have been unbearable. Jake wasn’t himself. He wandered in circles, froze mid-step staring into nothing, stopped eating, and slowly lost the light in his eyes. We went back and forth to the vet countless times, trying different meds, searching desperately for answers. Nothing made sense.

Finally, as a last hope, we saw a neurologist. I thought we’d be in for a quick visit, maybe a new prescription. Instead, it became the hardest day of my life. The neurologist told me Jake has brain cancer — not just one, but two tumors, taking up 2/3 of his brain. One of them is pressing against his cerebellum, pushing it out of his skull. It puts him at constant risk of seizures and sudden death. Without treatment, he was given just 2–3 months to live.

There is no surgery option. Our only hope is three rounds of high-dose radiation to shrink the tumors and give Jake more time — more mornings loafing in the sun, more visits where he greets you at the door, more nights where he curls up beside me when I need him most.

The cost of this treatment is overwhelming and, unfortunately, has to be paid out of pocket. That’s why I’m reaching out — to the Jake lovers who know him personally, to the animal lovers who know the bond we share with our pets, and to anyone who wants to help keep an angel in this world a little longer.

I know times are hard for everyone, but if you can find it in your heart to donate — no matter how big or small — you’ll be giving Jake the chance to keep spreading his love, comfort, and joy.

From the bottom of my heart: thank you for helping me fight for Jake.
