Jaime' Eblen ALS Miracle Fund

Donation protected
Update November 2018:  Please help Jaime Alsop Eblen transfer safely to her wheelchair with a ceiling lift.

ALS has moved pretty quickly for Jaime and the time has come that she is unable to safely stand to transfer beteen her bed, wheelchair, and bathroom.  Falling is extremely painful and scary.  Also her sons have been helping her to stand which has been a strain on their backs and muscles.

There is a simple solution that will assist Jaime and her caretakers to safely take care of her needs for the remainder of her life with mobility rapidly declining from ALS.

That solution is a ceiling lift.   It allows a caregiver to use a motorized lift on a track to lift Jaime from her bed  and gently set her in her wheelchair and restroom without any strain on the caregiver.

The cost of ALS is crazy and Jaime has been very blessed to be able to find resources to provide her care so far, but those resources are exhausted and this is not a cost insurance covers.  Please consider donating to help cover the cost of this tool that is so badly needed.  Thank you.

Original Post in March 2018:
ALS ugh!  Help make a life beautiful for my sister and build a future for her children.

My sister, Jaime Alsop Eblen, has been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease (see http://www.alsa.org/about-als/)  Life expectancy is 2-5 years on average, but we hope to have her around as long as possible.

Jaime's life work and greatest treasure are her 3 wonderful sons. This life calling as a Mom has brought her great joy. She is a single mother now and has done an amazing job to provide for their needs. Now the boys are faced with the challenge to care for their mother as she loses her ability to walk, talk, eat and even breathe. They’ve risen to this challenge like champions showing great care and compassion.

Jaime's biggest concern during her health challenge has been worry for the sake of her sons. We’re all heartbroken that she most likely will not be around as they decide their careers; create their lives and go on to have families. (She could hardly wait to be grandma someday!)

With her sons’ futures in mind, Jaime faces a more limited time to pay off her home to ensure a remaining quality of life with her boys, and also for the boys to have a place where they can continue to create lifelong memories together. In addition, ALS comes with unexpected costs for accommodations for her electric wheelchair and the medical bills that will come with home hospice care.

Please help us support Jaime in her financial challenge and help us relieve her sons’ of additional financial burden after this disease takes her life
