Jaime McCoy and family Medical Expenses

Jaime McCoy is so many things to so many of us. She is a wife to her husband TJ, who is a small town business owner here in Osage City. She is an incredible mom to her two children, Ashlyn and Isaac. Jaime is the strong center for her amazing family. She is a teacher and mentor to a whole generation of students in her role as a para at Osage City Elementary school. She is a friend to so many of us here in the community. Always there and ready with a quick smile and helping hand for any of us who need it. Jaime is also one of the strongest fighters we have ever known.

For the last eight years, she has fought a vicious battle with synovial sarcoma, a relatively rare form of soft tissue cancer. Through it all, Jaime has fought with an unbelievable determination to not let cancer steal away her quality of life. She has inspired us all with her quiet bravery and steadfast determination to live her life on her terms.

The last eight years have included over 15 surgeries that impacted many parts of her body including her pancreas, spleen, right leg, rib, knee, both lungs, and resulted in the amputation of her right leg. Jaime has met every medical procedure with courage, an incredible strong will to recover, and a smile on her face. In the early years, most of us were not even aware of how large a battle she was facing as she was so determined not to let it completely take over her life.

A little over a month ago, Jaime lost feeling in her left leg. She was transported to the hospital for treatment and to try to get some answers. It was determined that she has an inoperable tumor on her spine. Since then, she has been through a chemo treatment, a spinal surgery, and currently is in rehab as the tumor and surgery have left her paralyzed from the stomach down. Everyday she is working hard on learning new ways to live her life her way with her new challenges. Jaime is still facing the need for more chemotherapy once she completes her rehabilitation therapy.

Through this all, TJ and the kids have stood by Jaime’s side. As a small town business owner the financial impact on TJ’s business can’t be overlooked. His priority is to be there for her and spend every precious minute he can with this incredible woman.

In our town their business is a leader in serving and giving back to the community. While they do have insurance the financial costs that are not covered have become staggering. The priority right now is paying uncovered medical bills, obtaining necessary medical equipment, and a home remodel needed for Jaime to be able to come home and continue fighting while maintaining a quality of life that will allow her to continue to be a wife to her husband, mom to her kids, and friend to all of us. The bills are staggering and any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated. As always, prayers are so important.
