Sierra Martinez was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in 2013. The surgeon recommended that there be 3 surgeries over the next two years. Her first surgery took place in January of 2014. She just finished the 2nd surgery on Friday December 19th with the third one coming next year. It was discovered in the 2nd surgery that the condition was more severe than orginally thought to be.
She is home and recovering well, a very brave and determined young lady. As you can imagine throughout the recovery there will be many tests, MRI's, x-Ray's, and ongoing expenses. This may require specialized services and equipment, some of which may not be covered by insurance. One example; A second wheelchair is needed to be kept at school which insurance will not cover. This cost alone is $100.00/month.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Sierra and her family. They know there is a long road ahead and we would like to encourage friends and family to help out if possible.
