Jaguares Ascendiendo is an after-school program for students of all abilities, ages 7-11. Students, who attend Irish Elementary Escuela Bilingüe in Fort Collins, have an opportunity to develop their climbing skills twice a week. Our goal is to provide students from varying economic statuses access to climbing. Irish Elementary Escuela Bilingüe is a Title 1 school. Approximately 82% of our student population qualifies for free/reduced lunch. With single memberships costing around $50-60, in addition to climbing gear/equipment, climbing is often inaccessible to the students we serve.
Our club provides students with instruction, transportation, and a climbing location. We are continually searching for funding sources and sponsors to provide our students with access. We aim to secure climbing equipment for the students that will facilitate students' development of proper technique and skills needed to climb. Your donation will help us supply our students with climbing shoes, chalk bags, and other gear. In addition, the funds will allow us to pay for field trips, bus costs, and substitutes for the instructors to continue their certifications.
Our hope is to build partnerships and develop pathways for students to have equitable access to the outdoors. Ultimately, our goal is help students develop the skills with the equipment needed, so students are able to pursue their passion and become outdoor leaders for generations to come.
