Jagger's Cremation

Jagger's sudden illness and untimely death was not something that I was prepared for in any way. After the very costs, his cremation is a financial burden I am not prepared for. I would appreciate anything that anyone can give to it. Thank you.

For those who haven't read the back story:

On Thursday evening, my dear, beloved fluffy black cat died from cancer. He was only 8.5 years old.

He was born in Las Vegas on May 1, 2012. He made his way to Fort Bragg, CA where he was pawned off on the owner's cousin. The cousin turned him over to the Humane Society because they were afraid that he was going to claw their white leather sofa. I went to the Humane Society to look at cats but not really expecting to find one. I sat down in a chair in their cat house to check out a different cat, another male. Jagger got up on a ledge just over my shoulder and refused to leave even though the other cat growled at him. The other cat left my lap. Jagger calmly walked down into my lap, turned around, sat down, and stared at me. It was pretty clear that he wanted me to take him home with me. The staff said that it was clear that he hated it there. In fact, he had been there for about a year and the only reason they could see why is because he requires regular brushing otherwise his fur dreads. He was a very sweet, loving cat. There really was no reason for it. So, even though I also owned a white leather couch, how could I not adopt him!

He used to love chirping at birds and was known to catch a few, unfortunately. He used to love to hang out on the wall next to our house in Fort Bragg as well as on Redwood, and in the alley behind our house there. His favorite time seemed to be when people were coming and going from Hospitality House. He would greet all of the people on their way to and from dinner there. He truly loved people.

His illness came on suddenly and quickly. We had thought that he might have a broken paw. After observing him and making sure that it wasn't a plea for attention (our other cat is very demanding of attention and has an untreatable bad hip), I took him to the vet who agreed with my assessment. We returned home with painkillers and a plan to schedule the surgery. Two weeks later, upon dropping him off, I insisted that they take x-rays because he was trying to walk on it. Long story short, they discovered cancer. Just over two weeks later, he was dead.
