Jadyn McCoy Study Abroad

Hi, my name is Jadyn McCoy. I attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where I am Sophomore Professional Theatre Major and Cheatham-White Scholar with a 3.98 GPA.

This summer, I have been granted the opportunity to study Spanish in Barcelona, Spain for three months. From a young age, I believed in the importance of understanding and experiencing other cultures apart from your own. Experiencing the language, the art, the traditions, and the history, we can recognize our commonalities, all while celebrating our differences and growing through them as well.

From a communication standpoint, I have always wanted to become fluent in Spanish. As a Theatre student and Spanish minor, communication is important. Actors communicate stories through the character we portray. I will be able to break the language barrier between myself and individuals who speak Spanish. I will be able to communicate my stories in their native language, as well as become a global citizen. A person who is not only aware of my own culture but has a deeper appreciation for those who do not share the same.

The funds will be used to pay for my tuition, housing, airfare/transportation expenses, and books. Thank you so much for supporting this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
