I am Jacopo Giacopuzzi, an international graduate student from Verona, Italy. I am currently studying piano performance at the Thorton School of Music at the University of Southern California. My first year studying at USC and living in California has been even more incredible than I expected. I have learned and achieved so much in just one year, and it has been a truly life changing experience. I won the International Liszt Competition in Los Angeles and the Music in the Mansion auditions in Beverly Hills. I have had several newspaper articles written about me, and I was featured in a video on USC’s website which discussed my unique story and my interest in combining video and music. I received invitations to play concerts and recitals all across the United States, from Hawaii to New York. I was also invited to be a guest artist at Pianofest in the Hamptons this last summer, and I was asked to be the creator of a new web series featuring the young pianist attending Pianofest.
After having such a successful year living in California and creating an important network of friends, colleagues, and mentors, I am determined to continue building my life here. Above all, the kind people, some of which have become a second family to me, have inspired me to stay. Unfortunately continuing my studies here and completing the process of obtaining my EB-1 Permanent VISA has become very expensive. The VISA alone is going to cost over $9,000, and my USC tuition loans are over $30,000. Without support, I am concerned that I will not be able to continue pursuing my dreams here in California. Any amount you are able to contribute would be very appreciated. To show my appreciation, I would love to perform concerts for top donors.
