Jacob's Bar Mitvah Project

Tax deductible
Water is something that many people take for granted.  For the 300 million people living in the USA and countless others in developed countries, if we turn on the tap we get potable water in an unlimited quantity.  However, there are over 844 million people around the world without access to safe potable water. Kids and adults alike in large parts of Africa and elsewhere have to walk miles with huge buckets of water just to be able to get clean water for that day.   Even in a developed country such as South Africa, Johannesburg is weeks away from running out of water altogether due to mismanagement and underinvestment in their infrastructure.  What seems to just come in infinite amounts for us is a rarity for many.

For my Bar Mitzvah project I have decided to raise both money and awareness as to the issues facing people around the world relating to water scarcity and access to clean water.

For the fund raising portion of my project I am using this venue to raise money for Unicef.

To raise awareness, I am going to organize and hold a water walk in my community in April (tentatively scheduled for April 15).   To find out what a water walk is please see the below link:

My Bar Mitzvah is April 21 and it would be fantastic to achieve my goal by then, but I will keep the site open through the end of May.
