Jacob's Top Surgery Fund
My name's Jacob, I'm a 19 year old trans male, and I'm creating this Go Fund Me to help raise money for me to get Top Surgery.
I hope to get this with Doctor Miles Berry in London. The cost will be £8,600+ (this is not including the consultation cost and other related expenses). I'm looking for help raising at least £3,000 of this.
Donations would go toward:
- Private medical care
- Travel costs
- Accomodation
- Post-surgery aftercare
I don't like to ask for money but it would probably take me years to save up the total amount, and while we are working on saving as much as possible ourselves, any financial support towards the overall cost would help. If you are able, I would be hugely thankful for any amount.
I've been in the NHS system for most of the last five or so years I've been out, and the amount of gate keeping towards trans people looking to medically transition, especially young people, is honestly just exhausting. It feels like a never ending battle to prove that I'm 'trans enough' and capable of making decisions for myself.
While I'm thankful to have finally been able to start Testosterone through the NHS, I dont feel that getting top surgery through their system is a path I want to take.
Thanks for reading, it would be great if you could share this on social media. Any like, retweet or share helps.
