Hello, my name is Jacob Miller and I am a Life Scout of Troop 173 of Harrisburg, NC. I am working to attain the highest honor in Boy Scouts, the rank of Eagle.
One of the main requirements to achieve the rank of Eagle is to successfully plan and execute a service project that benefits the community. My project will be done at Wings of Eagles Ranch in Concord NC, where I will be building a fence around one of their stall barns.
Wings of Eagle ranch is a therapudic horseback riding outdoor adventure center for children with autisim and special needs. This ranch allows these awesome children to exercise thier minds and body. The horse's gentle rhythmic movements help increase the balance, muscle control and strength of riders with impaired mobility. Riding motivates children and adults with learning challenges to increase their levels of concentration, patience, and discipline. A relationship forms between rider and horse allowing riders to overcome fears and develop trust in their therapy team. Please see the link to the WIngs of Eagle Ranch at the bottom of this page.
I have been volunteering at this ranch for a year and a half. I have had the privilege to help assist these kids with thier riding experience. I have also had the chance to participate in the incredible summer camp program. This experience has allowed me to create a bond with some very special kids. This is the best part of my week.
My project will make the area around the barn more sustainable for horses and provide more space for the horses. This will make the ranch look nicer than it already does.
Now to make this project a reality, it will take approximately $2000. I am asking if you would help me in giving a donation. I am asking for donations to purchase the materials needed. I would be extremely grateful and appreciative if you could support me in my endeavors in completing my project. With a donation, you will be helping the horses and kids.
