We spent hours standing over my brother today clearing his trach canal as he coughed. He looked 8 years old as he looked up at us for confirmation he was going to be ok. I smiled and gave the encouragement he so desperately needed. Today was my first experience of the conscious, unsedated brother I've been so desperate to see. But with that progress comes the panic and uncertainty of what tomorrow brings.

Day 32 is full of hope as he spent 7 hours breathing on his own and only needed dialysis once this week. It's overwhelming to think about what has been broken. However, we will take the wins not matter how small.
