It started on Thursday morning, May 31st. Charlie asked a group of men to pray for his son.
"We noticed a lump on Jackson's abdomen. As a parent, you automatically assume the worst. When its your child, you automatically think its cancer or something life threatening."
As the day would progress, Charlie's worst fears would come to fruition.
After several tests, young Jackson(only 4 years of age), would travel to Brenner's Children hospital. There they would find a mass on his kidney. The tests would reveal that he has a malignant tumor called Wilm's Tumor.
Praise be to God that this tumor is very curable!
However, this 4 year old will have to have surgery and endure roughly 12 weeks of Chemo Therapy. He will have to have followup screening for 5 years. He will only have 1 kidney. He will have to have a Nephrologist(kidney doctor) until he is 18.
There will be several trips to Brenner's. There will be several test that need to be ran. There will be several meals to eat out. There will be several sleepless nights. There will be several medical bills.
Now its time to act! I can't think of a better young family. I've known Charlie for just over a year, but he has impacted me in such a positive way. This family is light in a dark world. A positive attitude in a negative culture. Its time for us to act!
