Let's Make A Killer Record

Donation protected
Thanks for stopping by! This blurb will include nearly all of the information in the video above, but feel free to exercise your literacy! A little about me: I was born in the suburbs of Chicago, and grew up listening to Chicago (fitting), Stevie Wonder, Sara Bareilles, and more of the like. I moved to Nashville, TN at 18, and have finally crafted a sound that is both fresh and honest to me. It has flavors of pop, soul, R&B, blues, jazz, singer-songwriter…I’m basically a music mutt. If you haven’t heard my music yet, just look me up on your preferred music platform! I have three official single releases under my belt and have been enjoying steady growth in the crowds at my shows. The timing is just right for this first record, and I need your help to create something special.

As the name suggests, this “Friend-raising” is not aimed at big Shark Tank investors; I invite everyone to help out, whether you give a single dollar or $1,000. If at any point you’d like to ask me more in depth questions, email me and I’ll get back to you in a jiffy.

So about the record: If you’ve heard my music in the past, namely Step Up and The Cozy Sessions songs, Snow and Mr. Bluebird, you have probably gotten the message that my music is uplifting, groovy, and easy listening. That won’t change with this seven track record, but don’t be surprised if it bumps a little harder than anything I’ve released so far. These songs are brimming with summery danceability, catchy melodies, real horns, and so much more. A lot of music these days is made on a laptop and is very, very precisely produced. While I love listening to this music, when I write songs and play shows with my band, our sound just can’t be recorded unless it’s done the right way.

For this record, the “right way” looks like five days of recording at Catch This Music, a beautiful studio on music row here in Nashville. Recording a proper record with a band, real instruments, and a big studio just doesn’t happen as much anymore, oftentimes due to higher costs and access to such a space. It’s my prayer that by recording this way, you and I will have a warm, joyful record that also makes us dance a good bit.

As far as funding goes, the players are locked in, consisting of killer musicians that I regularly play with, and we will be compensating each of them for pouring themselves into the songs. Funds will also go towards printing physical CDs, creating a pleasant recording environment (FOOD), mixing, mastering, studio costs, rehearsal spaces, and more.

This is where you come in. There are two important keys to success for this campaign: #1 is investing what you feel comfortable. This sounds cliche, but in all seriousness, every twenty and every penny will put us that much closer to a fully funded record. #2 is sharing this page with others, whether that be just on your social media or sending it to a person you feel may love it as well.

So when is the record coming out? If fully funded, I’m excited to say that we will begin releasing singles in April of 2018 and the full record will release in Early May. The timetable for posters and physical CDs for sales and fulfilling donation tiers has not yet been determined. I hope you become an integral part of this record, and that my updates will give you a special glimpse in on this process as we crank along. Thank you so much in advance!
