Jackson nearly drowned #Oakislandstrong

Jackson is our 17 year old son who was enjoying the Labor Day weekend at OKI with us and his grandparents. Jackson has been a medical miracle his whole life. He has epilepsy, vision impairment, CP on the right side, and is intellectually delayed. He strives to be a normal 17 year old and he makes us so proud. His smile can light up a room. On Saturday we went to the beach, got all set up near the pier and were ready for a fun filled day playing in the sand and waves. It was a picture perfect day. Jackson had been out in the ocean with his two brothers and his step dad when he decided to leave the water and walk up to our spot with his sister. He asked me if I would put his swim shirt on him. His sister sat down next to me as he went to go back to his step dad in the water. As soon as his feet hit the water he suffered a Gran Mal Seizure which put him under the water out of view. Shortly after it happened our youngest son was screaming for his step dad to go get Jackson; at this point he was floating face down. Trying as hard as we could from sand and water we could not get to him...BUT God placed angels there and they began dragging his lifeless body from the water. At the beach where they laid him down there just happened to be a Nurse anesthetist and two other nurse, and a fire fighter. They began compressions and mouth to mouth. After what seemed an eternity he had a pulse again and was breathing. He was transported from the beach by Oak Island Water Rescue to the Ambulance which took him to New Hanover Trauma Center in Wilmington. He was placed on a ventilator and heavily sedated so his body and brain could rest and recover. He is making great strides thanks to the quick response of everyone at OKI! https://www.wwaytv3.com/2020/09/07/good-samaritans-save-teen-from-near-drowning-at-oak-island/ For a full glimpse you can check out the news story done by WWAY Cannel 3 news in Wilmington. We are traveling back and forth from Oak Island to the hospital in Wilmington twice a day to be with him.
