Hello everyone, thank you for clicking on Jacks page and reading his story!
My little boy Jack was born 10weeks premature weighing just 2lb6oz. He was in Nicu for 11 weeks - with only minor problems! On December 11th 2012 at 4am Jack suffered a cardiac arrest at home - where after calling 999 i performed cpr for 12minutes. After over a week on a ventilator to breath for him, being paralysed for his safety, many tests and 2 more cardiac arrests (one needing the use of a defibrillator) he finally woke up and breathed for himself. He made a miraculous recovery and has become the most incredible boy we know today!!
Jacks condition has been diagnosed as Long Qt Syndrome. This is a arrythmia condition, where his heartrate can suddenly increase to a dangerous speed, resulting in turning into jelly and stopping.
To stop this from happening he is currently on a medication called a beta blocker - which controls his heart rate! However after a meeting with his cardiologist at Bristol Children's Hospital he has advised us on purchasing a AED (Artificial External Defibrillator) to save his life if he ever had another episode. Even though we haven't been given the likelyhood of it happening again - the reality is it is there :(
So this is where Jack needs YOUR help. We are asking for help in raising the money to buy him a lifesaving AED! An aed, with paediatric pads and carry case is around £1500!
I will be organising a few events local to me, like a mothers meeting with coffee and cake! And a skittles do at The Crown Inn. All events will be posted on facebook :)
