Jack's Medical Fund

'One good thing about music - when it hits you, you feel no pain,'

Jack has been a musician for most of his life, between playing in the Army band, traveling with The Drifters, playing with The Groove Hogs and Fat Brass, to most recently playing with The HD Horns and Vic Ferrari; Jack has blessed us with the gift of music for his entire life.

In October 2016, Jack thought he had broken a rib moving boxes. He treated it symptomaticaly and visited the chiropractor. After 2 months of treatment with no relief, he sought care from his primary care physician (PCP).

After a few routine tests, his PCP referred him to an oncologist. An x-ray of his chest had revealed a mass, and his labs were suggestive of cancer.  After multiple scans and diagnostic tests, he was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Squamous Cell Lung Cancer, with metastasis to the floor of his mouth, rib cage, supraclavicular lymph node involvement, sacral mets, and a possible secondary cancer of renal cell carcinoma.

The recommened treatment in his case is palliative therapy - meaning he gets treatments to keep him as pain free, healthy, and active as we can. The median life expectancy for anyone with Stage IV Lung Cancer is roughly 12 months, not taking into account variable factors of health, disease progression, and complications.

Jack will unfortunately be facing many medical bills as time passes, and even with his insurance he will be looking at substantial costs to keep him healthy and comfortable. His daughter, (who is his only child), will be caring for him and will be his support/caregiver while she is still working full time with ThedaCare in the Fox Valley.

We are asking for anyone to donate to his medical fund and expenses as this will allow both Jack and his daughter to continue treatment as well as allowing his daughter to care for him; while letting them spend as much time as they can together through good times and bad.

Jack's situation is unfortunately urgent as his time on Earth may be limited to a year or less, and he still has so much more love to share with you all through not only his music,  his gift of teaching his students, and his larger than life personality.

Anything you are able to donate monitarily or spiritually is gravely appreciated - thank you in advance for taking to time to read Jack's story.

** Any and all funds will be used to help Jack pay for medical bills. As his daughter, I will be managing the transfer of these funds to him as the campaign continues. **
