Jack's Bench

Donation protected
UPDATE:  11/4/2017 - Jack's Bench is in place! The bench is located on the West Trail along Wolf Creek at the Overland Park Arboretum. It is just west of the bridge that crosses over to the Bluff Loop. The bench is stone and has a plaque marking it as Jack's Bench along with an inscription.

We are discussing a time to invite everyone out to see the new bench and will announce details soon.

If you visit the Arboretum please make sure to share your visit and use the hashtag #jacksbench and #neverforgetjack.

We have marked the attached map to help you find it. Enjoy and look for another update soon.

UPDATE:  7/8/2017 - We did it!  Thank you to everyone who participated in this GoFundMe for Jack’s Bench.  We have an amazing community and we should all celebrate this wonderful outpouring of love and support for the Cooks.  I spoke with Paul this morning and with his permission we plan to donate any contributions above our funding for Jack's Bench to the Myocarditis Foundation in Jack’s name.

We will be working with the Arboretum this week to make plans for the bench.  Stay tuned as we will keep you updated on our progress.  THANK YOU AGAIN!

*********
Three years ago on July 7, 2014, Jack Cook passed away unexpectedly at the age of 12. His passing was sudden and left a hole in the heart of so many but most of all his family.

Since that time many have walked with Paul, Robin, and Bailey in their grief and healing as they have courageously continued to live after the loss of their son and brother. As we mark the three year anniversary of Jack's passing we want to continue to encourage Paul, Robin, and Bailey and remember Jack through a donation to the Overland Park Arboretum.

The Arboretum was a favorite place for Jack and his family. They would often visit the park with their dogs to walk the trails and enjoy the beautiful setting.

Our donation will take the form of a memorial bench that is along a trail of the Arboretum and made of stone so that it can be enjoyed for many years to come. It will be designated with a plaque as Jack's Bench, a gift from the friends of Jack Cook and his family. It will be a great place to stop and reflect on Jack's life as visitors enjoy the Arboretum the way Jack and his family have.

Our donation goal is $4500 which will cover the cost of the the bench inscription and monetary gift to the Arboretum. We invite you to participate in this memorial as you feel led. Thank you.
