Jackpot! Help Jeff build the dream!

 

Hi, I'm Jeff Halverson, owner of Jackpot Foods! Some of my first memories are of food, and to be honest, food is still always on my mind.

 

 

 

I've spent the last 17 years of my life serving my community. I started my career in New Zealand as a police constable before coming to Oregon and serving as a police officer, with the last four years as a School Resource Officer. I have loved every minute of these last 17 years, but its time for me to follow that dream I've had ever since elementary school when I set up a restaurant in my driveway. Sure, my mom was pretty upset that I "cooked" all the food she was planning on using for dinner, but a dream was born that day.

Jackpot is my way of sharing what I'm most passionate about. Food and eating food! I'm at heart, a meat eater with a very heavy emphasis on slow smoked, barbecue. Ask the people that know me what they think I'll be doing on the weekend, and they'll say cooking barbecue. A few might say singing karaoke, but that's a story for a different time!

 

After a lot of long talks with my wife Karyn, and some sleepless nights wondering if it was the right move, I decided that now was the time for me to get out of law enforcement and follow that dream of not just cooking on weekends anymore.

 

With this jump, there are a lot (seriously a lot I never even considered!) of expenses. In order for this dream to keep from turning into a nightmare, I need some help.

 

Jackpot has already secured an amazing location in Oregon City. We will be located at the soon to be built food cart pod that will be a part of the Oregon City Brewing Company and opening in September. This is going to give Jackpot a great built in customer base. But, we need to get everything up and running and that's where YOU come in!

 

With this Go Fund Me campaign, Jackpot is looking to start as close to in the black, and making a profit, as possible. This would mean that we can reinvest in the business and the community. One of my favorite tasks as an officer was linking up with different local charities and giving back to the students, families and communities I served. I want to find a way to continue that type of work, even if I'm not in uniform!

 

 

My plan is to use the contacts that I've made to search out ways that Jackpot can make a difference. That could mean anything from sponsoring a school club, or working with local shelters. I promise you this, I will find a way to keep helping.

 

What I'm asking for, is to try and raise at close to $65,000 as possible. This will pay off the trailer, the equipment and the government fees (ouch) and licensing requirements.
