The Lord has certainly put me on a unique journey
Help support me on my Sight and Sound conservatory journey!
A few years ago I was finishing up my Associates Degree obtaining a major in Social Work and minor in Criminology. At the time, I had just started working at Sight and Sound enjoying the theatre atmosphere. I have always been interested in theatre/performance, but never thought I would be able to chase down such a "pipe dream." However, the Lord had a different plan. Shortly after Sight and Sound re-opened Joseph, in 2015, I felt my heart tugging on pursuing my secret dream of performing on stage. My logic told me that there were professionals, my age, who were much advanced than I and would only be playing catch up in order to impress directors. I prayed and prayed that the Lord would take this dream away, but it would always come back. Finally, I felt the Lord comfort my heart and say, "Take a leap of Faith and Trust Me."
So, I did.
That lead me to audition for Sight and Sound's Conservatory program ( which is a program that allows students to participate in the theatre's current show and be immersed in hand's on training to grow in their performance technique) *
I knew I had a slim chance of getting in, but knew the Lord had a plan.
The first audition I didn't make it in! After receiving my first 'No' the Lord directed me to switch my major to Communications Theatre, so that I would be able to learn more about the craft.
The next year I auditioned once again! I was more hopeful and sure that I would get into this amazing program. Sadly, I didn't make the cut. The second 'No' was difficult for me to accept knowing I worked very hard to impress and prove that I was worth being apart of such an intense program.Let me tell you, I struggled trusting the Lord and the path He was leading me on.
Is theatre really the right path for me? Am I good enough to share my heart's passion for such a beautiful craft? Am I just making a fool of myself? Is it worth it? AM I WORTH IT?
I took some time away from chasing my dream and thought really hard about what I truly wanted. What did God create me to do!?
I decided to let go of the tight grip of my dream and give it to God. After all, if this dream is something God wanted me to pursue, then He would surely make a way.
Well...
The Lord certainly exceed my expectations and opened up doors in ways I could never imagine. God showed me that this journey He was leading me on wasn't about pursuing my dreams. It was about having FAITH to give Him something I truly loved and TRUSTING HIM to make the way.
They say THIRD TIME'S A CHARM!
I auditioned one last time! I prayed not that my voice would sound amazing, not that my dance would be on point, or my acting to blow the directors & teachers out of the water. But that they would see God through me. That God was using me to share a story unlike any other. I had peace no matter if I got into the program or not because I knew the Lord's plan was greater than what I could ever imagine.
I am EXCITED to say that I did get accepted into the program and will be apart of SIGHT AND SOUND'S CONSERVATORY PROGRAM and be performing in 'Jesus' in 2018!!!
Now comes the next step of my journey! Raising money to attend this program! The school cost $7,950 and I , along with my other class mates, need to have this money before our season starts. We are all doing our best to raise as much money as we can, but sometimes you need extra support from friends and family. Even though I am working full time and planning other fundraisers I still need help to fulfill my bill.
If you feel lead to help me financially on my journey I would like to Thank You! Every little bit counts.
I would also appreciate prayer! The enemy is real and wants to manipulate us to believing we can't succeed. Please keep me in your prayers as I am walking through this season and next year!
