Jackie’s funeral arrangements

Dearest friends and family,
        We are asking for your help to fundraiser for Jackie who fell ill with Covid in early December 2020. Jackie‘s condition became so bad that she had to be hospitalized due to extremely low oxygen levels and sickness. While in the hospital Jackie developed pneumonia and had to be put on a ventilator. Ultimately Jackie had to be sedated for over two months. During those two months she was placed on an Echmo machine, which is an artificial pulmonary machine, that helps give the proper oxygen to her blood and organs because her lungs were in a fibrotic state. Slowly the doctors and nurse at Torrance Memorial Hospital where weening her off all her sedation medications. Along with that she had to have a Tracheotomy procedure done to help wake her up and also help the doctors evaluate what her state of mind was and how they could continue to help her. By the grace of God Jackie was able to come out of the sedation, however her lungs had deteriorated to a point that they are no longer viable requiring a double lung transplant. The doctors and nurse have been extremely vigilant in helping Jackie get through process of being able to become a double lung transplant patient. Her journey has been long and has had many ups and scary downs, however she has over come  the infections and small hiccups in between.  Recently Jackie has been able to sit up on her bedside and now starting to walk 15-20 steps. She is 100% off the ventilator and has also been able to eat soft foods when she passed her swallow study. Jackie has beat the odds and has been able to hit all the necessary milestones needed to be eligible for the transplants.  There are two transplant hospitals looking in to her future care. However with that will come monumental expenses and we need your help. The money received through donation will help with living and medical expenses. Jackie and her full time caregiver will have to relocate to a home near the hospital after the transplant is done and has had time to recover under the care of the doctors. Then she and her caregiver will move to be near the hospital for her weekly doctors appointments. As a transplant patient Jackie and her caregiver will have to live away from home and family for at least 6-8 months.

    Jackie is an amazing mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, her biggest desire is to come home and be with her children and family.  Every little bit will help during this very difficult time and will increase her chances of a full recovery.  We will be extremely grateful for all of your prayers and support.

Pedimos su ayuda para recaudar fondos para Jackie, quien se enfermó de Covid a principios de diciembre de 2020. La condición de Jackie desafortunadamente tuvo que ser hospitalizada debido a niveles extremadamente bajos de oxígeno y enfermedad. Mientras estaba en el hospital, Jackie desarrolló neumonía y tuvieron que ponerle un ventilador para poder respirar. Al final, Jackie tuvo que estar sedada durante más de dos meses. Durante esos dos meses, la colocaron en una máquina Echmo, que es una máquina pulmonar artificial, que ayuda a dar el oxígeno adecuado a su sangre y órganos porque sus pulmones estaban en un estado fibrótico. Poco a poco, los médicos y la enfermera del Torrance Memorial Hospital le quitaron todos sus medicamentos sedantes. Además de eso, tuvo que someterse a un procedimiento de traqueotomía para ayudarla a despertar y también ayudar a los médicos a ver cuál era su estado mental y cómo podrían continuar ayudándola. Por la gracia de Dios, Jackie pudo salir de la sedación, sin embargo, sus pulmones se habían deteriorado hasta el punto de que ya no son viables y requieren un trasplante de doble pulmón. Los médicos y la enfermera han estado extremadamente atentos para ayudar a Jackie a superar el proceso de convertirse en paciente de trasplante de doble pulmón. Su viaje ha sido largo y ha tenido muchos altibajos, sin embargo, ha superado las infecciones y los pequeños contratiempos intermedios. Recientemente, Jackie pudo sentarse junto a su cama y ahora comenzó a caminar de 15 a 20 pasos. Ella a sido removida del ventilador 100% y también ha podido comer alimentos líquidos cuando pasó su estudio de deglución. Jackie ha superado todas las probabilidades y ha podido alcanzar todos los requisitos necesarios para ser elegible para el trasplante. Hay dos hospitales de trasplante que buscan su atención futura. Sin embargo, eso conllevará gastos monumentales y necesitamos su ayuda. El dinero recibido a través de la donación ayudará con los gastos médicos y de vida. Jackie y su cuidador de tiempo completo tendrán que mudarse a una casa cerca del hospital después de que se realice el trasplante y haya tenido tiempo de recuperarse bajo el cuidado de los médicos. Luego, ella y su cuidador se trasladarán a una casa cercana desde el hospital para sus citas médicas semanales. Como paciente de trasplante, Jackie y su cuidador tendrán que vivir lejos de su hogar y su familia durante al menos 6 a 8 meses. Cada pequeño detalle le ayudará durante este momento tan difícil y aumentará sus posibilidades de recuperarse por completo. Ella es madre, hija, y su apoyo para realizar sus sueño de regresar con sus hijos es lo que más desea y con su apoyo Estaremos extremadamente agradecidos por todas sus oraciones.
