Jackie Knapp Rehabilitation fund

Our Mom had been fighting sickness, what we all thought was a cold for 6 weeks. A few Doctor visits along the way, never really healed.  Sunday the 18th she was admitted into Parkview North ICU with double pneumonia.  Things escalated quickly from there!  They decided to intubate and do a bronchoscopy, her lungs were full of blood and infection.  She was on life support and the Doctors told us we could only take it hour by hour, he considered her critically stable.  The doctors diagnosed her with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis, AKA Wegener's disease.   After 7 days of having the machines helping her breath, they decided that she was strong enough to breath on her own.  Sunday night the 25th, she was talking, eating and we saw the 1st signs of life in a week. Monday morning Jackie still had an appetite and was looking good.  In the middle of a treatment she had an unexplained effect that sent her into delirium and basically no real control of her body, that lasted for 12 plus hours.  We are still not sure what brought this on, some ideas, but everyone, including the Doctors and staff are still slightly confused.  Mom has a long road ahead of her!  Side note: She has a new home that she has not been able to sleep in. The family has been working hard on getting her stuff moved and ready for her to move in once they allow her to go home. Thank you all for the love and support we have received during the past few weeks!
