<div>As most of you know, our beloved Jackeline was a victim of a terrible car accident in Mexico this past December after being picked up from the airport by a chauffeur. Jackie's jaw was fractured and had to be wired shut for a month. She suffered a concussion, lost teeth, has facial nerve damage, has disfiguration in her lips and chin with large scarring and suffered many contusions on her body. Jackeline's medical bills have been stacking up just from the initial surgery and hospital stay. She will need several more surgeries to her face and jaw as well as many therapies going forward for at least 2 years. Jackeline is unable to work and with limited coverage from insurance, she’s needing our support to get through this. <div>If you know me, it is very difficult for me to ask for help. But here I am, a little over two months after a severe car accident in Mexico that resulted in a broken jaw and significant damage to my face. I am dealing with a very challenging recovery, already facing overwhelming medical bills and in need of long-term treatments and several additional surgeries to get my face back to something seemingly normal.

<div>One minute I was living my best life, and the next, I was in the middle of a car accident that could have ended my life. This resulted in multiple fractures to my jaw, the area on my face below my nose was, and still is, a distorted version of what it once was. I suffered a concussion and multiple blows to my body. I lost some teeth and a lot of bone and tissue within my mouth. My top lip was completely busted open and my jaw was broken severely in 3 places as you can see on my X Rays.

<div>I had an emergency maxillomandibular surgery done the next day, and a first-response plastic surgery to sew my lips and chin back together. The surgeon had to insert metal plates in my chin because of the severe bone loss and to hold my jaw back together. I had my jaw wired shut for 4 weeks after that so that it could heal correctly. I am now in recovery, my lip is still needing more surgery, I am missing mobility in my face and jaw and I am missing three teeth. I can only eat soft foods indefinitely and I need multiple surgeries to be able to speak, eat, kiss and feel my face normally. There are many after-effects of the accident, like my jaw not being able to be open without a lot of clicking or fully or losing the feeling in my face.

<div>The nerve damage has also caused me to lose my beloved smile. The left side of my face doesn’t move to allow me to move my lips up. It is challenging to look at myself in the mirror knowing that I will never be able to be the same, no matter how many surgeries I undergo.

<div>The event has traumatized me not only on a physical level but emotionally. I have been under a lot of stress because of financial worries. international costs aren’t covered by insurance and I need a lot of therapies, dental work and cosmetic surgeries that are not covered or limited coverage. I have not been able to work and there are many unknowns with my benefits. I am committed to getting the best care possible and that can be very costly.

<div>I have worked so hard to heal myself emotionally in my life and now I have had a hardship come up which requires me to ask for help and show vulnerability, for once. My mental health has suffered and I have PTSD. The uncertainty in my life has made it difficult to focus on my healing.

<div>I have faith that everything happens for a higher purpose. I know that life’s changes usually work out for the best, even if it is painful when you’re in the middle of it. However, I am asking for help, as uncomfortable as I am with it. I have been taking care of myself financially since I was very young, so it's really difficult for me to ask for assistance in this way.
