Jack Thompson's URGENT Flooding Repair
Donation protected
Jack Thompson, a BIPOC, HIV+, trans man (International Mr. Leather 2019, Leather Man of Color 2019, Drag King, Community Educator) and his husband, Geoffrey Millard, a queer, disabled, Iraq War veteran, Bootblack, and political activist (International Mr. BootBlack first runner up 2019, IML first runner up 2017, Mr. Daddy's Barbershop Leather 2017) have experienced extreme flooding and water damage to their Baltimore, MD home during the current East Coast winter storms and need our help!
The flooding has affected their entire basement, where Jack's bedroom and office are located. Their sump pump does not work properly and the water damage has meant Jack, his two dogs and cat, have had to evacuate the basement and relocate all of basement belongings to the first floor living space. Not only is this difficult for Jack and his pets, but it is a serious hazard for Geoffrey, who is physically disabled and requires clear access to and from the main living spaces.
Geoffrey is fully disabled from combat and cannot work, while Jack is his full time caretaker and also works a second job to make ends meet. They NEED FINANCIAL HELP to fix this issue and prevent future issues so that their home can be safe and they can live healthy lives.
They have been quoted $15-20k for portions of the water damage repair and waterproofing (to prevent future damage), which will not be covered by insurance, as well as $2k to cover their insurance deductible to replace the sump pump and repair the other portion of the water damage. In total, we are hoping to raise the full $22k they may need to quickly repair this urgent issue.
I am Jack's sister and am asking for the community to come together to help Jack and Geoffrey out at this very difficult time because Jack and Geoffrey are not emotionally or physically in a place to ask themselves (though I have created this with their full knowledge and approval).
Jack is one of kindest and most supportive people I know. If you or anyone you know has ever known or worked with Jack, and especially if Jack has ever personally helped you or a loved one, be it emotionally, physically, or with advice or free labor, PLEASE consider giving whatever you can in this moment of need! And if you are not in a place to give, PLEASE SHARE THIS GoFundMe far and wide to those who can!!
Thank you in advance, for helping my big brother.
