Playground Pavilion Dedicated to Jack Rowley

On February 10, 2018, Doug and Jennifer Rowley ( formerly Hasselhan), teachers in the Owen J Roberts School District, lost the eldest of their two children, Jack Rowley. Five year old Jack passed away in his sleep due to complications from Epilepsy.
Doug has been a committed physical education teacher at East Vincent Elementary ( formerly Vincent) for over 20 years. Jen has taught music education at French Creek Elementary for 12 years. Both have made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of OJR students and families.
With Doug and Jen's involvement, the East Vincent Elementary PTA and the EVE community are building a shade structure on the playground, dedicated to Jack. This Playground Pavilion will be used by all students at East Vincent, as well as clubs, girl and boy scout troops, and teachers utilizing the outdoor space, and as part of their school day.
The cost to build the structure in 2021 will be $62,000. Our goal was to raise the funds by December, 2019, but the pandemic forced us to cancel events. $52,000 has been raised as of February 7, 2021. This was sufficient to build the pavilion, which was completed in September, 2020. Remaining funds will be used for signage and landscape. If any funds remain, we will purchase picnic tables. Donors who give $500 or more will have their name on a plaque near the Pavilion.
