Jack Moser and Family

Donation protected
His name is Jack Moser. He’s 5 years old. He’s happy, smart, funny, energetic, loving, caring, and now, he’s the strongest kid I have ever met. He’s my nephew and my hero. Monday night, Jack and his family were camping in Island Park. Jack was on a bike ride with his brother through the camp site, when a truck and camp trailer came through. Jack pulled off the the side, but as the truck passed and the trailer was next to him, he lost his balance causing him to fall into the trailer, getting run over by both tires of the trailer. 911 was called. An ambulance transporting a patient from Hebgen Lake happened to be right by the area, and, realizing the emergency, stopped to help. Due to the extent of the injuries, they quickly decided to load Jack and my sister Amber in with the patient and hit the road to Madison Memorial Hospital, where Jack was air lifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. A firefighter escorted Amber in a station vehicle, running lights and sirens. En route, they were in an accident with someone not yielding to an emergency vehicle. Luckily, someone stopped to help and gave Amber a ride the rest of the way. The staff at EIRMC worked hard to stabilize Jack. He was struggling. He had lost over half his total blood volume between the accident and Idaho Falls, and continued to bleed. He was becoming tachycardic, and his blood pressure was sinking. He was struggling to breathe. They made the decision to intubate Jack, to give his little body a break and to try to stop the bleed. They packed his wounds as much as they could and gave him 4 units of blood in an attempt to stabilize him to fly. Jack was rushed to the airport and loaded onto a fixed wing airplane headed to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, but just before leaving, our family was informed that the patient in the ambulance tested positive to Covid-19, so Jack and Amber would be quarantined for 14 days, isolated from his dad and the rest of our family. Between Idaho Falls and SLC, Jack received a total of 11 units of blood product and platelets, so he's had more of other people’s blood than his own. During his first surgery, the surgeon informed Amber they weren’t sure if he would survive the night. The staff worked tirelessly through the night and next day, trying to find and stop the bleeding, and also get a clear picture of what all needs to be fixed. He suffered a broken pelvis, and broken femur, damage to his colon and bladder. He had a major laceration to his perineum. He was losing a ton of blood. The teams at Primary Children’s have been working so hard to take care of my nephew, and they have been doing an AMAZING job. They have stopped the bleeding. They have placed pins in his pelvis and femur. They have finally been able to place a catheter through his damaged urethra and remove the blood from his bladder. He has an ostomy bag to allow his colon to be treated and repaired. His wound packs have been removed, and vacu-seals have been placed to help with healing. His fever has been coming down. He is still intubated, so he can’t talk, but Amber has been telling him how many of you have been in his corner. Literally an entire army. The money raised from this GoFundMe will help pay medical bills not covered by insurance, travel, lodging, and all the associated costs that will come with Jack's treatment and recovery. With the Covid-19 factor, Jack's dad, Jordan Moser, isn't allowed to be with his son and Amber. He will be staying in hotels until the quarantine is over. There is also a venmo set up that you can directly donate to, @benefit_jackmoser and all funds will go directly to Jack and his family.
