In Loving Memory of Bev Blue

To know Bev was to love her. She has touched so many people in so many ways.

From her friend Julie who described Bev to a "T":

She lived a fantastic life, as a young girl watching the space program take off from her front-row seat, to cooking on a long-haul fishing boat, to bartending, to her music, and the musical life she built with Bill Blue, her great love, and Molly Foreman, her daughter and the core of her being. And Buster the dog. She was the goddess of Marlin Pier, the glue of our community, eternally motherly and menschy, her boat was like Mary Poppins’ bag, somehow it held what anybody needed when they needed it, along with a glamorous wardrobe that graced that beautiful bod. Because I can’t imagine a world without Bev in it, I won’t. She’ll just always be there, on her beloved ocean, enjoying her breeze, with Buster on her lap or in her skiff, lobstering. I’ll hear her ringing laugh. She leaves thousands of mourners today. But she won’t leave Key West. Not ever. Jack and I send our love to Bev's enormous Key West family. We are so sorry.

I want to add that the best way to honor her memory is to be more like Bev — to watch out for the people in need, the good-hearted and hurting people, and to offer them some comfort, a smile, a listen, to be generous with your time and your heart. To be the Island that is still there.
