Prayers for Terry

Donation protected
My sister Terry Davis suffered two strokes January 2014.  Since then she had two bouts with pneumonia and she remains bed ridden in Anchor rehab/nursing in Palm Bay, Florida.  Terry is 51.  Her strokes were brought on by on unknown autoimmune disease that caused vasculitis of the brain (the blood vessels in her brain swelled and caused the strokes).  This is a very rare condition of unknown cause and  very little treatment options.  The autoimmune disease causes the bodies own immune system to turn on the body and attack it.  In Terry's case it attacked the blood vessels in her brain.  The only treatment is to supress her immune system with a chemo therapy drug and high doses of predisone to stop the blood vessels from swelling.
The first picture was taken in December 2013.  Less than three weeks later Terry was in the ICU of Holmes Regional Medical Center.  She went through several test and procedures, including a biopsy of her brain tissue.  There is not much that can be done at this point except trying to keep her spirits up and calming her panic and fears.  Next month she will have been bed ridden for one year.
We would like to have a private pay cna to spend time with Terry for 4 to 6 hours a week.  This typically cost between $15 and $20 an hour.  This has help Terry feel a little less anxious and afraid.  The cna can help work with her on range of motion to keep her limbs from tightening up, have her lifted from her bed into her wheelchair and taken outside in the courtyard for a little fresh air and sunshine.  Getting her out of bed is also important to try and prevent more bouts of pneumonia.  Terry's husband Chris sees Terry daily, all while working a full time job on the midnight shift.  This would help give him a little down time, which is much needed.

Anything that you can do to help would be appreciated.  My sister is a wonderful person, very nurturing and loving.  She would help anyone - friend or stranger. I know if it was someone she knew, in the situation she was in, she would be there for them.  Right now, she needs help.  The reality is that the nursing home is where Terry will remain.  Having someone coming in would help her make it through this rough road she is now travelling.
thank  you,
Barbara Lawson, sister.
