Nicholas "Nick" Horton

Our son Nick lived life day to day, with no sense of direction. We were trying to help him get his life on track. That time finally happened when he met his girlfriend Taishara.  Along with Tai, came her nineteen-month-old daughter Kalani, who Nick has fallen head over heels for. This feeling has been mutual, with Kalani calling Nick “Daddy!” Earlier this year, Nick and Tai, decided they would move out together. They were determined to save money and look at places for their little family. Within a couple of searches, they had found their new home, and on March 3rd, 2018, they were moved in.

On March 13th, 2018, Nick and Tai were involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident. While traveling to meet family, a vehicle pulled out in front of them and unfortunately, Nick was unable to avoid a collision. Nick suffered a brain injury, broken nose, facial lacerations, broken sternum, contused heart, a cut liver, and a crushed spleen. He has been working tirelessly to recover and rehabilitate but these injuries will prevent him from returning to work for some time.

While medical insurance is helping to cover most of his medical bills, there are no funds to cover his ongoing expenses of day-to-day life,  such as rent, car payments, car insurance, etc. It’s uncertain at this time how long his recovery is going to take, however we estimate it could take up to 6 months. Most of these expenses will be due as early as April 1, 2018.  Many friends and family have reached out asking what they can do to help, which has led to this GoFundme for Nick.
