Thank you for visiting our Go Fund Me page. Our amazing wonder baby is back in the hospital again exactly one year later to her last health scare. For those of you that don't know Ruairi (pronounced Rori), she is a lively, strong, smart, and beautiful 14 month old, that is very near and dear to the hearts of many.
Ruairi was born with Kidney reflux, which makes her susceptible to urinary tract infections. Last year she went into the hospital with a UTI, and that quickly developed into Bacterial Meningitis. This landed Ruairi in the hospital for 6 weeks at 2 months old. For the past year of her life she has been on a prophylactic (preventative) antibiotic to keep these infections at bay. However, last week she contracted a strain of bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics, and this particularly nasty infection has now spread to her kidneys. She will need to be in the hospital for at least 14 days on IV antibiotics.
Ruairi's incredible parents, Ciara and Connor love this girl beyond measure. Connor is a high school teacher at White Bear Lake, and was supposed to start school again this Tuesday, September 4th. He teaches Social Studies, coaches Football, and helps manage the basketball team. Ciara is works with the state of MN overseeing group homes for adults with disabilities, foster care, and adult day health care centers. Not only are these two incredible parents, and selfless human beings, they are also expecting their second child in November. Ciara is currently entering her third trimester of pregnancy.
We created this page to help ease their stress in some small way as they care for their little wonder baby, and prepare for their next child. They are living in the hospital with Ruairi around the clock. That means time away from work, and their home and kitchen. This page is to help raise money to help ease some of that burden by providing meals and cost of living while Ruairi is in the hospital. Living in the hospital even for a short amount of time is no small feat. Simple things like eating dinner as a family becomes incredibly hard to coordinate.
