Alex Rendahl's Medical Crisis
Donation protected
As some of you may know, our friend Alex has a serious health problem. The first symptoms appeared a few weeks ago while he was on vacation in Canada, where he was hospitalized for several days. The initial diagnosis made by the Canadian doctors and confirmed by his Austin doctors is that he has a 10 cm complex cyst on his left kidney and the kidney must be removed. Although the final diagnosis can only be made after a biopsy, all doctors agree that there is a 90% chance that he has kidney cancer.
He will have the kidney removed on January 15th. The hope is that there is no spreading of the cancer and there will be no need for chemo or radiation. If the doctors are able to remove the kidney laparoscopically, the recovery time will be 3 to 4 weeks. If there is the need for an incision, then the recovery time will be longer. Although Alex luckily now has health insurance, the co-pays from this surgery and the Canadian hospitalization have already reached several thousand dollars. Being self employed and out of work for a month will put him another several thousand dollars in the red. I am setting up this gofundme with the hope of raising $10,000 to help Alex through this time of crisis. With the help of his many friends and all of his very loyal clients, if everyone contributes what they can, we can help him through this terrible time.
