Car for Working Single Mother

Donation protected
As some of you know my beloved Isuzu Rodeo's transmission just went out about two weeks ago.  I bought a new car, and was wondering what to do with Ole Bessie (that was her name!)  At first I thought I'd sell her for scraps, but that would net me about $100-$200 tops, and she had been so good to me that I thought that was a very anti-climactic ending to such a great car that had served me so well over the years.  So, I decided that a better thing to do would be to get her fixed up and give her to a working single mother that didn't have a car.  The total amount I need to get her in tip top shape is about $3300.00 though.  More than I have after buying a new car and recently moving and incurring the costs associated with that.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for working single mothers.  My mother married my father when she was 16 and had me at 17.  She quit school in 9th grade to do so.  Her and my father divorced when I was 13, and she never asked him for a single dime to raise us kids.  And not having even a highschool education, she worked her butt off at terrible jobs for years to make sure we always had everything we needed.  When it was time for me to go off to college I remember her breaking open the old piggy bank and rolling up pennies, nickels, dimes, and quaters to help me pay for my first semester.  She would routinely send me money throughout college, and in restrospect, I realize often she was sending me her entire check for the week.  The picture you see is me and her at my law school graduation.  That accomplishment was as much her success as mine and I'll never forget the sacrifices she made to make my dreams possible.

If I can pay it forward, even a little, and help out a single mother, like my mom, then I'll only begin to scratch the surface of my mother's kindness.

I have a specific single mother that I want to give Ole Bessie to.  She is a 25 year old waitress named Marie with a beautiful 1 1/5 year old daughter and she is 12 weeks pregnant.  She recently left an abusive relationship to give her children a better life.  Together we can help jump start her and her children's better lives.  Anything helps.  Please consider a donation so I can get Ole Bessie in nearly new shape and give her to this deserving girl and her children.
