For the Love of Noah

Donation protected
I have set up this fund in the hopes of alleviating some of the financial burden my sister has incurred in the hopes of saving her beloved dog Noah. Many may not know this but he is not just a pet to Alisan, he was dedicated as her Emotional Support Animal, as prescribed by her Doctor. He has helped her through some very difficult times. I could not imagine her life without him suddenly. She has just finished Grad school this year and is trying to get her life in order to make a move to her new Internship starting in Feb. With the costs of her move accruing quickly and having to face paying back student loans in the near future this unfortunate event could not have come at a more stressed time for Alisan. She has become overwhelmed with the emotional stress of Noah's illness coupled with the very expensive vet bill. I dont know how she feels about me setting this up for her, but everyone needs a little help at some point in their life and this is that time for my sister.

Here are some of the details on what is going on with Noah:

Noah was diagnosed on Tuesday with severe kidney failure. It happened suddenly. A couple days before then, Alisan noticed his behavior was "off". He is usually very happy and cheerful, and suddenly, he wasn't even able to stand up. The first vet thought that he may just be sore because Ali and Noah had recently been hiking and camping.  Considering their tight bond Ali knew it was something more and asked for complete blood work to be done. Sure enough it was found that Noah's kidneys were operating at only 25% which quickly turned the situation into a race to save his life and find out the cause. He had stopped eating and would hardly even open his eyes.

He was admitted to the emergency hospital, Advanced Vetererinary Specialists (AVS) in Santa Barbara as Alisan had been told by many local pet owners that they are THE BEST  and that if anyone can save him, they will.. but it will be very costly. They quickly came up with a great treatment plan for him which included high doses of IV antibiotics and continuous fluids to keep him stable enough to 1. Find out what is causing this & 2. Treat it aggressively.  He has been in there now since Wednesday being treated for what they believe is a severe bacterial infection. The plan was to bring him home on Saturday and as of Friday he was showing great improvement in his lab tests. Unfortunately when she went early Saturday they had redone the tests again and the improvement had slowed to the point that they were concerned that taking him off the fluids and antibiotics would be a shock to his body and he could easily decline at home. They told her at this point Noah's home coming would have to be pushed back to Monday. So the plan is to take him home Monday, and then return on Tuesday to get him checked out and see how he is doing on oral antibiotics.

We have high hopes for his recovery. But we also still don't know what caused it. Noah is only 4 years old, still so full of energy and he has a longer, bright life ahead of him. He may have contracted a bacterial disease from being out in the wild when they went backpacking a couple weeks ago, or he may be experiencing acute kidney failure which can happen due to so many reasons.

Ali knew going into this that vet bills can get very high very quickly but at the same time is willing to do whatever it takes to give him the care he needs. She is doing everything in her power to pay for this on her own but at this point she has become very overwhelmed with the cost and is in need of help.

I know it is hard to give at this time of year after we have all just spent tons on presents for the holidays, but every dollar at this point would be such a blessing to my sister.

"He and I need each other. He provides me with so much love every single minute of every single day. I wish I could give him my own kidney! If it were possible, I would do it." -Alisan
