Help Brendon Breathe Again

Donation protected
"It hurts my heart to watch Brendon fight for every breath as he walks the short distance from the car to the house. I can only imagine the pain and fear as he struggles to catch each breath."

In April of 2016 Brendon Gibson went to the Dr for what he thought was bronchitis. He wasn't a smoker so he assumed his labored breathing was a result of allergies or a sinus infection. Instead he was referred to a lung specialist who diagnosed him with an incurable idiopathic lung disease:  Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. Within 6 months his condition had worsened to require oxygen occasionally.

In March of 2017 Brendon was referred to a lung disease specialist for further evaluation. There he received the devastating diagnosis that a lung transplant would be necessary. Brendon's lungs are so severely scarred it is not possible to reverse this disease. This was a very frightening prospect for a 38 year old father.

Brendon is now on continuous oxygen and awaiting a double lung transplant. He has endured an enormous amount of tests and procedures during the transplant evaluation and preparation process. This has been a strain on him and his family physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.  However, these costs pale in comparison to the financial drain of the transplant procedure and follow-up.

After the procedure, he will remain in the hospital a minimum of 2 weeks and will need temporary housing near the hospital for at least 3 months.

He will also need personal assistance 24/7 during the 3 and 1/2 month stay. This will place additional physical, emotional, and financial strain on him and his family.

Our goal is to raise at least $14,0000. The money would cover costs associated with this stay and alleviate some of the financial burdens he is facing.

It seems unfair that anyone has to face something like this, but even more so with Brendon. He's an extremely nice man , easy going, quiet, always smiling and loved by family, friends, and co-workers. It has been especially hard on his son as they are best buds and always together.

We've set a goal of $14,000 to help offset all the extra expenses. We are hoping to take a small amount of the financial worries away while he is recouping from the transplant.
Any gift is greatly appreciated.
