Hello my dear friends, brothers and sisters,
I am Rafael Torres and as you might have seen on my Facebook, I have been blessed to have graduated recently from Idaho State University with my Master’s degree in Counseling. I chose this career because I have always wanted to give back to the people. Six years ago, I married my soulmate, my beautiful wife that has been by my side since the day we have met. Together, we share two beautiful heavenly blessings, our daughter Mercedes, she is three years old, and our eight-month-old handsome baby boy, Michael. Being their father means the world to me. Holding them, kissing them, and seeing them grow has been something that I keep dearly in my heart.
Our whole world came crashing down on August 7th 2018 when a routine doctor visit turned into a nightmare that I wish I could wake up from. Something I would have never imagined was happening to me, to us, as a family. I was diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer. I felt scared and vulnerable, yet the only thing I could think about were my children. I thought of my daughter, my beautiful daughter, would I be able to see her in her white dress on her wedding day? My handsome son, will I be there for him to send him off on his mission? The spiritual man that I consider myself to be, converses with God every day. I remember speaking with my Heavenly Father the evening of that terrible day. I asked Heavenly Father to keep me on this earth a little while longer, so that I could fulfill my calling as a father and a husband.
The reason why I created this GoFundMe account is, primarily, to let everyone dear to me know that I would appreciate prayers for me and my family. Secondly, to help me and my family with the expenses that occur due to my surgery that is scheduled for September 27th at the Ear, Nose and Throat Center of Utah in Salt Lake City. The total cost for my surgery, anesthesia, facility and doctor fee is $9,800.78, but in order to keep my September 27th2018 appointment the facility requires me to pay at least $5,984 by September 13th 2018. My dear friends, I know this is a lot to ask, but my family and I would appreciate any type of donation you can give. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and think of us. Soy Rafael Torres y como han visto en Facebook, he sido bendecido con haberme graduado de la Universidad Estatal de Idaho con mi maestria en consejeria. Escogi esta carrera porque siempre he querido dar todo para mi comunidad. Hace seis anos me case con el amor de mi vida que ha estado a mi lado desde la primera vez que nos conocimos. Juntos, tenemos dos hermosos hijos. Mi hija Mercedes que tiene tres anos y nuestro hijo Michael que tiene ocho meses. Siendo un padre significa todo para mi. Me encanta abrazar y besar a mis hijos.
Nuestro mundo se vino para abajo el 7 de Agosto cuando una visita al doctor se convirtio en una horrible pesadilla. Algo que nunca me imagine nos estaba pasando a nosotros. Fui diagnosticado con cancer en el tiroides. Todo mi mundo que yo tanto adoro se me vino para abajo. Senti tando miedo y lo unico en lo que yo podia pensar era en mis hijos. Pense en mi hermosa hija, estare con ella el dia de su boda? Pense en mi hermoso hijo, estare con el cuando se vaya a una mission religiosa? Yo me consider un hombre religioso. Todos los dias hablo con Dios. Yo le pido a Dios que me deje aqui en la tierra un poco mas de tiempo para que yo puede cumplir como padre y esposo.
La razon por la cual puse un GoFundMe es para que todos a los que aprecio puedan orar por mi y mi familia. Segundo, para que me puedan ayudar economicamente con algo que no les afecte a su economia. Tengo una cirugia programada para el 27 de Septiembre en el Ear, Nose and Throat Center que se encuentra en Salt Lake City, Utah. El total del costo de mi cirugia, incluyendo doctor, anestesia y consultorio, es $9,800.78 pero para asegurar esta fecha necesito para la cantidad de $5,984 para el 13 de Septiembre.
