2 cases fighting to keep Eli are set to be heard on 2 different dates in Court of Queen’s Bench this February and March 2015 – financial aid will help alleviate some of the Court costs and would greatly be appreciated as the Kropp family continues to fight against a Council that pushes it’s agenda using tax payer’s dollars to retain a private law firm to fight against this one family
Since March 2014, the Kropp family has made numerous attempts to communicate with Strathcona County in order to find some common ground that could produce a positive solution for all interested parties. Unfortunately no progress has been made. In addition to issuing a ticket for "harbouring livestock", Strathcona County Council and Administration also filed for an Injunction Order with a number of resolutions, one being the seizure by force of Eli from our family home. This injunction was filed well before a plea was even entered for the ticket. The Kropp family is appealing the guilty verdict of 'harbouring livestock' from the ticket, but is still facing the Injunction Order in February 2015, which is a month before the family is in court to appeal the ticket. Despite the requests by the family and supporters, and even though it could be easily done, and indeed would normally be done, Strathcona County will not temporarily adjourn the Injunction, so we face the fear of having Eli potentially seized before even having a fair trial.
Ziv Law Group in Edmonton has generously stood up and is donating their time to represent the Kropp family so that they can proceed with the two cases in the Court of Queen’s Bench. However, there are costs that will be incurred for Court that this family simply cannot afford. The family would appreciate and are humbled by the faithful assistance of those who support us and must now ask for financial assistance. As stated by a Strathcona County Councillor they operate with a 350 million dollar budget, and though this may not impact the decision makers who chose to use tax payers dollars to take this family to court, it significantly affect this family. Our goal is to raise $5000 specifically for the means to cover representation, court costs, legal fees, materials required, and out of pocket expenses. We invite positive support and information that can lead to a resolution that keeps Eli home.

What We Need & What You Get
This is what we plan on doing with the funding:
-The funding will be used to pay off court costs, materials for legal representation and preparation, legal expenses, and out of pocket expenses that are over and above the donated time by Ziv Law Group.
-Any extra funding the family receives and does not require will be donated to a charity that serves animals and their owners and the donation will be made publically and shared.
-Michelle will receive 100% of the funds from this campaign-**

You will help make going to court possible for a family who otherwise could not fight a power so much bigger and better resourced. Do not let the bullies win – help this family.
You will help ease the stress of our family by providing financial relief in this already overwhelming situation.
-Help keep this family together, do not let Eli be seized!
-Prove that we as a community can make a difference!
Risks & Challenges
So far the Kropp family has had to deal with the overwhelming costs associated with legal battles in court and the significant impact of media attention, this has brought a great deal of stress and even financial challenges for them to face for 10 long months.
Other Ways You Can Help
I understand not everyone can contribute financially, so if you would like to make an impact you are encouraged to do the following;
Write to Councillors of Strathcona County and ask;
-them to stop their Injunction Order and to not seek a seizure of Eli from his family
-that when the bylaws are reviewed in 2015 that a public forum be had
-that exotic pets be considered appropriately
Sign the petition for Eli.
