Helping Dick with his air fare

Many of you know about my long time friend and world traveler Dick. I met Dick in 1994 when I bought my first house - that adorable 1919 Berkeley bungalow in the Gourmet Ghetto. My part-Manx kitty Thumper quickly adopted Dick since I was rarely home and he completely spoiled her.
Dick retired from BoA in the late 90’s and moved to Bangkok which became his home base for traveling to Indonesia twice a year. He has been living in Bangkok for about 20 years.
Dick definitely inspired my travels to Southeast Asia. I have him to thank for my incredible 6 week trip to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia when I got my year’s severance/sabbatical from Kaiser in 2005. I have since then met-up with Dick multiple times in Thailand, Bali and Java.
Now at the age of 87 with failing eyesight, he is no longer able to travel and enjoy his former lifestyle. As a result, he has decided to leave Bangkok and return to the US. He is very concerned about the long flight and maneuvering through the international airports given his failing eyesight, so I am flying over to help him. I will leave on Nov 2 and we will return on Nov 8th. He will live with me for as long as he is able.
The reason for this Go Fund Me request is to help pay for his airfare. To make the travel a bit easier, we are flying premium economy - business class was completely unaffordable! Still, he is quite concerned with paying for his $1400 airfare. One of his childhood friends has already given a generous gift to help him pay for it. That generosity inspired me to do this request.
Any donation will help reduce his stress and the amount he has to repay me. Regardless of your ability to make a donation, please send us positive thoughts and energy for his big trip and big cultural transition!
