Daniel-Our Piece of Heaven on Loan

Daniel Curtis Savukoski came into our family on June 6, 2014.  Concerns at his  2 month check-up lead to the diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1.   He filled our lives with joy and laughter and his beaming smile stole our hearts.  He loved being read to and sung to by his big sister, cuddling and dancing with his Daddy, and lit up every time he saw his Mama.  He was cherished and loved every moment of his life by all of his family members.  He received exellent, loving, care from the CAPE Team at Boston Children's Hospital and Care Dimensions Hospice Services.  We enjoyed every moment of the 6 months that we had with him.  After putting up quite the fight Daniel was taken into God's arms on December 17, 2014.   The sparkle in his brilliant blue eyes will be in our hearts forever.  

We'd appreciate any help covering the costs that came with battling Daniel's condition as well as funeral expenses.   Additionally, it is our family's desire to support the wonderful foundation Cure SMA that gave us physical and emotional support during this difficult time.  From the first week of his diagnosis Cure SMA generously provided the car bed that allowed Daniel to participate in daily family activities.  Daniel enjoyed taking walks in the fresh air in a special wagon provided by Cure SMA.  These are just two examples of the many ways that this organization provided assistance.  We are so grateful for all of Cure SMAs support and hope to be able to help other families facing a battle with SMA.
