Hello,
I am Sarah, Tyler’s mother. I am hoping to raise enough funds to get him an epilepsy service dog.
On December 8th, Tyler was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital. He spent 5 days in the intensive care unit. After many tests, it was determined he had a seizure. Since being discharged from the hospital and more testing, he has been diagnosed with Focal Complex Epilepsy. Something you never want to hear as a parent! While the cause isn’t for sure, doctors attributed his previous head trauma as a probable cause. His adult life is just beginning. He turned 21 in November and has moved back in with us as he now has many restrictions, including driving, being alone, and diet changes, etc. He also just graduated from college in July, hoping to be a physical therapist assistant once his boards are passed. That is currently placed on hold due to his condition. He is currently not working. He started medication and we are trying to adjust to his new normal. We are hoping a service dog will give him many things, not only alerting for seizures, companionship, but also be able to be alone in his own place eventually someday!
We appreciate all the support we have received so far from family and friends! It means everything to us!
