Ecuador Medical Mission

If you had the chance to make a huge difference in someone's  life for just a small inconvenience on your part, would you do it?  I think most people would say yes- that is what has inspired me to become involved in medical missions providing care to indigent patients who don't have access to advanced medical care.  It is hard to describe the outpouring of gratitude and relief I've experienced simply for doing what I do on a daily basis.  What to me is a simple thing-providing anesthetic care- is often a miracle to our indigent patients!

I am currently involved with Because We Care Foundation, which is a small nonprofit organization started by an orthopedic surgeon in Tucson, Arizona.  Our previous missions have been to provide total knee replacements for indigent patients in Ecuador. Last year, we were able to help a total of 16 patients in one week of operating time.  On our mission this year (November 3-13), we plan to add some pediatric orthopedic procedures as well.  As the size and scope of our missions have increased, the cost of the mission has become too much to be borne soley by the physicians involved.  This is where I hope you can help....

My personal goal with this campaign is to fully fund the cost of airfare and lodging for at least 1 nurse or surgical tech to accompany us on this year's trip.  These staff members are indispensable to our success and are already giving up valuable vacation time to be involved.
As an added incentive, I will match all donations up to a total of $1000 until my goal is met.

All donations are tax deductible and will be acknowledged with receipts for tax filing purposes.
