Bristol Half Marathon for Mind
Hi, my name is Ailsa and I am running the Bristol Half Marathon on the 19th May to raise money for Mind UK.
Recently, after completing a challenge of running a mile a day, I saw improvement in my physical and mental health, as well as finding a new love for running. As someone who has constantly battled mental health issues, running helped in giving me an escape from my busy schedule. However, as my schedule got busier, I lost my motivation and confidence to run, as well as a lot of mental strength. Taking on this challenge is one step in the right direction to regain my love for running by pushing myself towards a new and admittedly terrifying goal.
I will be running for Mind, a mental health charity providing for the UK. Their work is significant to many as they provide support and information for not only those suffering but those around them too. They offer support for anyone under or over 18 as well as providing local mental health services and an online community.
I hope that running for this charity will help me to show myself and others that the lows aren't forever, and most importantly, that they are manageable. I aim to involve my friends with my training schedule, including running the Newbury 10k with my friend Troy.
I will update this page as I progress with my training and preparation. Thank you all for reading, and I hope that we can raise some money to fund Mind's work. See you at the finish line! Ailsa :)
