My name is Pastor Alexander Pineda and I am among the many Puerto Ricans living in the U.S. who'se families have been affected by Hurricane Maria.

On Wednesday morning, the category 4 hurricane descended on the small town of Yabucoa (where my family resides and thousands of others), and destroyed 90 % of its surroundings. The 155 MPH winds continued damaging surrounding cities as well as, the capital San Juan. All power has been wiped out, weather towers damaged, flooding through the streets, homes destroyed, business gone, 13 killed, and a state whose economy was already fragile, now wrecked to its core. Millions have been devastated and displaced.

Mayor Carmen Yulín of San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Friday spoke about how the U.S. territory is recovering from hurricane damage.

"We know it's terrible, it's total annihilation, devastation," Yulín said. "(There's) no power anywhere in Puerto Rico, no drinking water. What we're concerned about is the people we may not be able to get to, the elderly, the people that are in wheelchairs, the people that have respirators that are in need."

What little Puerto Rico had in the way of public health and power infrastructure "was literally blown away" by the Category 4 hurricane.

Our family has been hit personally by this tragedy. Along with millions of others, my aunt's, uncles, cousins, and other family members have lost everything. We, like many, are awaiting contact with family living there. At the time of the Hurricane Maria, my wife and I had flights scheduled to be in Puerto Rico next week, but have since been credited a flight to go when it is safe and we can get to our loved ones.

What once was a vacation, is now a MISSIONS AND OUTREACH TRIP. My wife and I, and others, will travel to San Juan when we are cleared and know we can make it to the small city of Yabucoa.

Once we arrive, we will partner with Primera Iglesias Baustista de Yabucoa (First Baptist Church of Yabucoa) to distrubute clothing, toiletries, bedding, and financial donations to families to purchase furniture, food, etc.

People have reached out to us via Instagram, Facebook, text, and phone calls to see how they can help. We were asked to please let them know where they could send both physical and financial donations. This is why we have started this funding page.

We want to aid as many families as we can in the city of Yabucoa, and assist in the rebuilding of homes and businesses. Every dollar given can and will help. When we say people have lost everything, WE MEAN EVERYTHING!! Currently, we are setting up locations for people to bring clothes, toiletries, and more on the West Coast, East Coast, and the Midwest. We will ship what we can and personally take items. We are in need of all sizes, mens, womens, childrens and infant clothing. Diapers, baby bottles, toys and more.

Our ministry will personally take funds and help purchase supplies in Yabucoa as well.

In closing, we ask you to keep praying for Puerto Rico for the months ahead will be hard. But we know there is nothing impossible with God. Pray for the government, the people, those who've lost loved ones, and for Hope!

Thank you!
