Help for Hailey RSD Treatment Fund

This fundraising effort is to help pay for 3 years’ worth of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) treatments for Hailey, a 12 year old sweetheart of a girl who is suffering with RSD, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. HBOT is a medical treatment that uses pure oxygen to speed and enhance the body’s natural ability to heal. The cost is not covered by insurance and must be paid out of pocket at the time of service.
About every 3 months Hailey suffers a flare-up & needs to travel to Lancaster PA from South NJ (approx 300 mile round trip) to the closest HBOT treatment center for children, for 2 hour HBOT sessions each day for 5 days. The cost is totally paid out of pocket as it is not an approved RSD treatment by her health insurance company. HBOT treatment is the only relief Hailey has gotten from the horrible pain of RSD. The cost is $330.00 per 2 hour session, for 5 days, that’s $1650. per week, about 5 times per year, that's $8250.00 per year. Please donate to build a fund to help pay for the treatment to give Hailey a chance at as near a normal childhood as possible. Until Hailey had her 1st HBOT treatment, she did not leave the house since even the slightest breeze caused her extreme pain in her leg which she was unable to even bend causing her to have to use a wheelchair and crutches. Now, with the HBOT treatments, she is out of the wheelchair, back to school, able to walk, run and jump. Please Help Hailey to be pain free and have as normal a childhood at possible.
What is RSD? Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, or CRPS, formerly known as RSD is a progressive disease of the Autonomic Nervous System, and more specifically, the Sympathetic Nervous System. The pain is characterized as constant, extremely intense, and out of proportion to the original injury. Hailey's RSD started with a fall while playing softball in the spring of 2013. The pain is typically accompanied by swelling, skin changes, extreme sensitivity, and can often be debilitating. It usually affects one or more of the four limbs but can occur in any part of the body and in over 70% of the victims it spreads to additional areas.
CRPS is ranked as the most painful form of chronic pain that exists today by the McGill Pain Index.
