Izzy's Insurance Costs for Chemo
Isabelle “Izzy” Sullivan is a fun, energetic and smiley 1 year old girl. She has a twin brother, Isaiah, who loves to play with her, and knock her over sometimes, because he's about 3 lbs bigger than his "big" sister. After several weeks of clinic visits for Izzy’s sudden onset symptoms and two trips to the emergency room in December 2017, parents Jeremy and Amanda (Houle) received answers. On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, Izzy was diagnosed with a germ cell yolk sac tumor. The tumor is malignant and will be treated with chemotherapy. The prognosis is good, and the family is confident in the medical team. In-patient chemotherapy treatments began on Saturday, January 6. Each treatment round will last five days, every three weeks (four rounds total).
At the request of friends and family who wish to show their support, Jeremy and Amanda have agreed to this fundraiser. Amanda and Jeremy feel very blessed to both have full-time, flexible employment. Given the timing of the onset of Izzy’s symptoms, they are facing an out-of-pocket insurance max of $3,700 for Izzy for both 2017 AND 2018. Jeremy and Amanda’s coming months will be filled with balancing parenting duties of two young children who can’t be together while Izzy’s receiving treatment, traveling from home to hospital (about 30 minutes each way), trying to keep a household running and working outside the home. Rather than focusing on this unplanned expense, your donation will help to ease the financial burden so Amanda and Jeremy can focus on what matters most—their family. While they still feel like they can manage daily living expenses, this fundraiser to offset their out of pocket insurance maximums will be a tremendous help.
