Izzy's Cruciate Ligament Surgery

Donation protected
This is Izzy! I’ve had her since she was 3 months old.
She is a rescue Pitbull Mix from Costa Rica.
Unfortunately Izzy was born with a Degenerative joint disease and has severe osteoarthirtis.

About a year ago she started showing the first signs of arthitis and started limping on her front legs, the vet recomended rest and a high dose of glucosamine, unfortunately she has gotten worst as time has passed. She was a very active pup but becuse of her condition she has continuously had issues specially with her back legs. This has led to scar tissue and in the past 6 months she has torn both her cranial cruciate ligaments on her back knees. Not only is it completely dibilatating, but it’s extremely painful as well.

“One of the most common injuries to the knee of dogs is tearing of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). This ligament is similar to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in humans. They are called “cruciate” because they “cross” over each other inside the middle of the knee.”

I have been treating her with anti-inflammatory medications and trying to keep her off of it as much as possible, but this isn’t something than can be healed any other way but to have surgery. Without surgery, scar tissue will continue to form, essentially locking her knee in place and giving her arthritis and limited mobility for the rest of her life.

Izzy's total estimated cost for surgery is roughly $10.000 in the US, before we start talking about after care, and checkups. I plan to take her back to Costa Rica for surgery as the cost will be dramatically cheaper.

Any help would be inmensely appreciated as I would like to get her treated before her condition worsens and she wont be able to walk at all.

Thank you, thank you thank you!!!
