Send SFSU Theatre Students to USITT

Three of my technical direction students took it upon themselves to attend LDI this November in Las Vegas. They saved their money, scrimped on a shared hotel room, figured out a way to get free expo passes, shared the gas expenses and drove the 10+ hours to Las Vegas.
While they were excited enough to go to those lengths prior to the event, I'm sure they didn't know what they were getting into. I was with them when we walked into the expo.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THEIR FACES!
Pure awe. Their eyes were wide like saucers. They zipped from one booth to the next with such excitement and wonder.
I only could stay for about 15 minutes, as my flight was leaving, but I heard about the rest of their weekend upon their return (and via text message as it happened).
This made them all the more excited to attend the national conference for USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) in Cincinnati, OH in March of 2015. However, getting to the midwest is a different animal. At this short notice, our Dean is unable to support the endeavor (I asked, and he said maybe next year), so we are now looking to our friend, colleagues, and families for their support. Every little bit helps!
