The Cleveland`s need a new furnace
Hello. We are Fred and Heidi Cleveland. We have lived and worked in our city most of our lives and have lived in our current home for 15 years. Last week our oil furnace stopped working. We did what most people would do, we called our homeowner`s insurance and put in a claim. It has been a week of boiling water on the stove and using portable heaters to warm the house. It has been rough but we knew it was temporary. We would have heat and hot bubble baths before we knew it. Or so we thought.
After being looked at by two plumbers, it has been determined that the seals are gone in the furnace. Water is spilling into the four compartments of the furnace and that is why the fire keeps going out. It is over 30 years old (age cant be determined, predicted much much older) and is beyond repair. We were in utter shock to learn that it is not covered by our homeowner`s insurance. It is considered normal wear and tear. Only sudden events are covered. If the pipes freeze, that will be our responsibility also because it is our job to keep the house warm. Shock and dismay does not begin to cover how we feel.
We are really behind the 8 ball. We are like many of you out there. We live paycheck to paycheck. We cannot afford another loan or payment plan, we make too much for most charities (which have long waiting lists) and the Powerball is a pipe dream. We are asking for your help. The estimate for the new furnace is $5500. We are asking for extra just in case of unforeseen added dollar amounts with the replacement comes up. We will also use part of the money to put oil in the tank and to pay the (most likely) HIGH electricity bill we will receive from all the heaters going. There is also the 7.5% that GoFund takes from the amounts we are given. Every penny counts!
Many of you know how extremely hard it is for us to ask for help. We are givers by nature . This is just a very desparate situation for us. Any amount can help. We appreciate you all for doing what you can. Even a big hug or a woohoo will help give us encouragement.
