Ivy's Surgery Fund

Donation protected

Hey everybody we are a family of six, Mom&Dad, four sons, plus Ivy, our little furry family member. Ivy just turned one August 4th.

This past Friday, Ivy was playing and had a pretty bad tumble down the stairs. It was obvious she had broken one of her front legs once she recovered from falling. X-rays confirmed our fears, both the radius and ulna in her left foreleg are completely broken.
She requires surgery to stabilize the bones with plates and/or pins.  Without surgery, her leg will attempt to heal in the position it's in now. The leg will be usuable to an extent but not without great pain and constant suffering.

We are fortunate to have some money in savings for the cost of surgery but we could use some help for this last stretch. The total damage for surgery is $2500 USD and is scheduled one week from today on 5SEP17.

Other options outside of the surgery are natural healing, amputation, and/or death. Not to be melodramatic about it but surgery is the only chance for her leg to be saved. The amputation will cost $1500 USD which will be our next plan of action if this fundraiser were to fail.
This last "option" is in fact not an option at all but for the sake of clarity natural healing just means that we let her keep the splint on for a few months to give her body the best chance to fix it on her own but this is not without an incredible amount of pain and anguish that she must endure and then continue to live with for the rest of her life. The kicker about natural healing is that her leg can become infected and/or turn septic resulting in amputation or worse, death.

For the time being we have all been spoiling her with treats and rubs and kisses and cuddles.  Although she is in pain and her body is a little broken, her heart is still just as big and full of energy and love like before. The fire in her eyes still has a long, long time left before it will die down; which by the way has been making it more than a little dificult to keep her down and off her leg to rest. She has plenty of pain meds to help keep her comfortable but it is a temporary solution.
Our family thanks you for reading and considering our campaign. Please donate if you feel led, we appreciate any and all love and prayers sent out for Ivy now, during surgery, and in healing.
