Ivonne's Rally Against Cancer

Donation protected
Hi to all who may be reading this request.

Ivonne Ruiz is a Venezuelan national who has had the fortune to live a very happy and fruitful life.  She is a loving wife and an exceptional parent to three precious children.

Ivonne is the type of person who is dedicated to those she is dear to as well as very welcoming to friends, family and strangers alike; always willing to lend a helping hand and with a smile on her face even when adversity knocks her door.

Recently Ivonne had been experiencing certain conditions that did not seem to have an apparent reason, yet after analysis of her Yearly Preventive Medical Lab records, we noticed some very low and consistently low values of her platelets.

This seemed abnormal, yet it did not raise a clear alarm.

After a series of medical examinations early this year - in an attempt to understand the origin of these low values - an Oncologist found that Ivonne is suffering from Hairy Cell Leukemia.

This was a total surprise to us, yet after reading and researching the illness, it was evident that the symptoms experienced by Ivonne over the last two to three years were, effectively, caused by this confirmed disease.

Currently, as many of you reading this may be aware of, I am unemployed and we are in the US under an F1 and F2 visa to give us time to seek Permanent Residency here....since going back to Venezuela - after been laid off from SLB - was not an option, due to the current social and political situation there.

To this date, we had Ivonne under a "limited" medical insurance policy due to it being a requisite for her to enroll in the institution where she was to enhance her English language as we began to process our request for permanent residency.

Unfortunately, since this was just to comply with the institution, this insurance hardly covers anything and the quotes for Ivonne’s treatment are pretty high and out of our reach.  Making it impossible for us to seek an immediate and needed treatment for Ivonne.

Ivonne needs a treatment which requires a five consecutive day infusion of cladribine, which is to be injected (chemotherapy treatment) via her arm; and hopefully - if she finds total remission with this first treatment - will not need further treatments in the future.

After going to different hospitals and doctors, we have found out that due to the low coverage of Ivonne's insurance, they will only treat her and admit her as a self-pay patient; which implies that we need to pay upfront for the different procedures before they can effectively schedule her in.

As of today, the symptoms have worsened a lot and Ivonne is feeling the effects of it, which are not allowing her to continue her daily life routines in a normal way, given that she gets tired very easily and oxygen is not reaching her body in an optimal manner.

This is why we had to recur to this media in order to seek for help to raise the necessary funds to have her treated this year.

We would be very grateful to you - our friends, family and acquaintances - for any donation you can make to contribute to our cause....

Do contact me directly, if you need further details or if you would like to arrange optimal methods of collecting these funds in order to minimize the deductions retained by making multiple but low amounts directly to this account....
